New Chairs and Greenery in the Dining Room...

Did I tell you that my family gave me the rest of the Restoration Hardware dining room chairs I'd been wanting for Christmas? I love them! (My family, and the chairs.)

You might remember when I scored the first two of them at a thrift shop and was obnoxiously giddy.

Sundays at Home {Link Party}

So glad you're here! We hope it's been a great week.

It seems like most people are feeling one of two ways in January: 1. Tired from the holidays with a touch of the winter blues or 2. Bursting with more optimism and ideas than hours in the day!

Either way, you've come to the right place. If you could use some fresh ideas and encouragement, we hope you'll browse the features and links below. And if your creativity is flowing, please share your inspiration with us by linking up at the end of this post.

That My Monday Mess Would Bless... {Keeping it Real}

Sometimes we need inspiration. Other times we need to know we're not alone.

For anyone who needs to hear this - please know that you are not alone... in your mess.

I had just seen a post by a talented blogger, talking about how she loves transitional decor. (And I believe her because her pictures were beautiful!) Transitional decor, used this time of year, is blogger speak for Christmas is over but it's a wee bit early for spring blooms. I couldn't help but smile when I thought about my current state of transitional decor.

It looks something like this:

2017 Top Ten Posts...

I want to start by saying thank you for reading our blog, and for the support you've shown us this past year. It really means so much to me! What a blessing to have this community of people who share a love for family, for home, for farmhouse design, and the simple joys of country living. It amazes me that we can be separated by miles (some of us by thousands of miles!) and still stay connected here. Turns out I am grateful for technology! And I am definitely grateful for each of you.

For the past almost four years now, I have blogged on farmhouse decorating, DIY projects, parties and gatherings, bits of our family life, mini farm living, and faith. If there are any topics you'd like to see more (or less) of here on the blog, I would love to hear about that in the comments section below. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

There will be some changes coming soon to the blog that I'm really excited about, and hope you will enjoy.

Below is a roundup of the top ten posts of 2017, based on views.
(You can read the whole posts by clicking on the pictures or links.)

1. Farmhouse Porch Ideas: Thanks to your support and a little love from Country Living, this post came in at number one! Galvanized buckets, including chicken waterers and a mop bucket, were the stars of the show.

Happy New Year! {and Heart of the Farm Planner}

(Product was received in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own. Affiliate links are provided.)

Happy 2018 friends! I'm feeling excited and hopeful about the coming year, and hope you are too.

My husband and I have an on-going debate about our family calendar. He wants me to input everything into my iPhone so that we can sync-up calendars. I agree that this is helpful.

However... I am a visual person. I'm also a list-maker. And there are about a zillion things I attempt to get to each week (key word - attempt ;). I'm not going to spend the time inputting each of those little things into an online calendar. Plus, I like to be able to look at a week at a time. Or a month at a time. For me, there's still just something about paper and pen.

Last year, I admired this beautiful planner made by Cory at Heart of the Farm Planner
And this year, I'm over the moon to have one!

Christmas Eve Barn Party...

I hope everyone has been enjoying this Christmas season. We were excited to have a white Christmas here in Seattle! (They are very few and far between... the last time it snowed on Christmas was 9 years ago.)

We hosted family for Christmas Eve dinner and thought it would be fun to have the barn decorated for dessert. So, after dinner, we told everyone to get on their coats and headed to the barn. (It was dark then, but I wanted to show you the snowy barn... though we didn't decorate the outside of it this year. So many possibilities, so little time. ;)

Christmas at our Little Farmstead {2017 Roundup}

We are now into the December 20's... Ready or not, here Christmas comes! This time of year can be such a mixture of emotions. (And I think I may have had them all within the last 72 hours. Ha!) But I hope that what we hold on to most during this season (and beyond) is the joy and hope of Christmas.

Below, I've rounded up this year's Christmas and winter posts from our home and shop space. Just click on the link or picture to see the whole post. Thank you for sharing in this season with us. I hope you and your families have a very blessed Christmas!

The holiday hustle is officially on! But I'm so glad you stopped by today... You are in for a treat! If you have yet to learn of Jesse and his absolutely inspiring Instagram feed, I hope you'll consider this an introduction.

I asked Jesse if I could share some of his pictures and collections with you. So happy he said yes! Enjoy these squares filled with vintage charm. Each one makes me nostalgic for Christmas past, and also excited for Christmas to come...
